Nuclear Fusion & Nuclear Fission

Introduction Nuclear energy is a hot topic in the world of science and technology. Understanding atomic fusion and fission becomes crucial with the pressing need for sustainable and clean energy sources. Though fundamentally different, these two processes hold the key to potentially limitless energy. Let's dive into the fascinating worlds of nuclear fusion and fission. What is Nuclear Fusion? Nuclear fusion is the process where two light atomic nuclei combine to form a heavier nucleus, releasing a tremendous amount of energy. This is the same reaction that powers the sun and other stars, making it a potential powerhouse for future energy needs. The Process of Fusion Fusion occurs when two nuclei, such as those of hydrogen isotopes deuterium and tritium, collide at extremely high temperatures and pressures. This collision overcomes the electrostatic repulsion between the positively charged nuclei, allowing them to fuse together. The resulting nucleus has less mass than the sum of th
